FRIENDS OF THE BEND PADDLE TRAIL ALLIANCE
Fund Raising has been a critical component of implementing BPTA’s mission. Since incorporating in 2005, BPTA has raised over $165,000 in gifts and grants. With that funding, BPTA has established the Deschutes Paddle Trail, published the Deschutes Paddle Trail River Guide and Cascade Lakes Guide, created the www.deschutespaddletrail.info website, and will be installing informational signs in 2009 at Trail access points on National Forest Service land. These achievements have all been realized due to the dedication and hard work of local volunteers in conjunction with financial donations from local businesses, individuals, and outdoor contributors from around the country who support the establishment of the Deschutes Paddle Trail with “something for everyone”.
To continue with the development, expansion, and improvement of the Deschutes Paddle Trail, BPTA needs unrestricted financial support from you. Over the next few years, your financial support will allow us to accomplish the following:
1) Mark the Deschutes Paddle Trail with informational, hazard, and portage path signs.
2) Improve safety, riparian areas, and recreation within Bend’s UGB through efforts to establish safe passage at the Colorado Street dam and install whitewater play features.
3) Work to redesign dams to improve safety and to return the Deschutes River to a more natural continuous state.
4) Coordinate with our partners to enhance fish, bird, and wildlife habitat along the River.
